Natra to source certified cocoa beans by 2020

FBR Staff Writer Published 15 May 2013

Spain-based manufacture of chocolate products and cocoa derivatives Natra has announced its commitment to source certified cocoa by 2020.

The company will mainly focus on gradually increasing the purchase of certified cocoa until it represents 100% of the company's consumption.

It will promote certification among the cocoa farmer co-operatives with which Natra has relationships, and participate in non-profit organizations that promote the protection of farmers and their families.

In addition, the company noted that it will acquire 100% of the palm oil from plantations which are compatible with the survival of tropical forests.

Natra will also focus on the elimination of trans fats; the replacement of artificial aromas with natural aromas; the reduction of salt fbrcontent; and the complete avoidance of artificial colorants.
